DRY TYPE TRANSFORMER

What is a DRY TYPE TRANSFORMER ? Dry type transformer is a transformer without Transformer Oil. These Transformer are used where we are required to deal with high Audio frequency in place of high power. Audio frequency transformers are used where we have to deal with data handling like server of banks. In banks if the transformer so used, have oil, get burst ( due to non maintenance of oil) and the server get stopped for minimum of 1 min also then whole economy of the country will get collapsed. So at that places we preferebly could use Dry Type transformer to avoid such situation APPLICATION: Bank server computers CHALLANGES: 1. Designing such transformer must be challenging for insulation requirements as it have to be designed in such a way to full fill the insulation requirements if oil is not used. 2. Designing challanges must be there for cooling system in Transformer as heating effect must be there so without oil there should be something that could maintain the cooling system in...

IS TRANSFORMER A CONSTANT FLUX MACHINE ?

There may be two different kind of discussion regarding this.  First let me consider: Ideal Transformer For an ideal Transformer, to be precise, the internal drops of across resistance and reactances(r1 & x1) will be zero. So primary voltage be the voltage across the shunt branch. Hence in that case we could consider the Transformer as a constant flux machine. Practical Transformer For practical Transformer we could say that it is not a constant flux machine. It is because in Transformer no load current will be 2% to 6% of Full load current. So drop must be considered across the series resistance and reactances (r1 & x1). Due to this drop the voltage across shunt branch in equivalent circuit decreases with decrease in terminal voltage.  Conclusion Though in practical Transformer, the drop across series branch will be considered but that drop will be very less, so in general we could say that Transformer is a constant flux machine but in practice flux is not constant, r...
